THE PEOPLE'S PALACE

March 2000, Colin MacKay will be opening another restaurant just beside Sala at J. Nakpil Street. People's Palace is the name of the place. It will be serving authentic Thai food and will be open from 7pm up to 11pm.

For its opening menu, which was last March 29, 2000, they have Hot and Sour Prawn Soup (Php120) and the Chicken Soup with Coconut Milk (Php120). For Php240 you can get the Thai Fishcakes with Cucumber Relish; or the Prawn Spring Rolls with Sweet Chilli Sauce; or the Chicken and Pork Satay with Peanut Sauce.

The most expensive dish of the house would be the Chiang Mai Chicken Curry (Php290), next will be the Prawn, Pomelo and Coconut Salad; the Green Chicken Curry; and Dry Red Curry of Pork with Green Peppercorns each of them worth Php280. For Php260 you can either get the Spicy Beef and Eggplant Salad or the Crispy Pork Salad. Their Prawn, Pork and Coconut Cream Relish with Crispy Rice Cakes on the the other hand is Php220. With Php160, you can have your Stir-fried Vegetables, while their Steamed Thai Fragrant Rice is worth Php50.

The People's Palace's dishes were assured to be as tasty as the ones cooked in Sala but with almost half the price difference. And just like in Sala, expect them to change their menu every two to three months, depending on the customer's demand for the dish.

For desert, they are serving, mostly, homemade ice cream like the Deep Fried Crispy Bananas with Their Homemade Ice Cream (Php160) and the Homemade Lemon Grass Ice Cream with Mangoes and Ginger Glass Biscuits (Php190). Aside from their ice creams, there's also the Ginger Crème Brulee with Fresh Fruits (Php190).

And as for refreshments, they have the Fresh and Salty Lime Soda (Php80); The People's Iced Tea (Php60); Calamansi Juice (Php 60); Calamansi Soda (Php70); Iced Milky Coffee - Sweet (Php70); Iced Pandan Juice (Php60); Iced Guava Juice (Php80); Minted Melon Shake (Php90); Mango and Passion Fruit Shake (Php90); and the Green Mango Shake (Php90). All perfect for summer don't you think?
